FLORA DANICA
The Flora Danica frame is the world's best-preserved magnificent frame from the 18th century, and it is Danish. It consists of 1,530 intact parts, where you can see large parts of the frame at Koldinghus in the exhibition. The Flora Danica frame is more than just incredibly beautiful porcelain that reflects the plants of Danish nature in the 1:1 size format. It is also a frame which is linked to many myths and stories.
The lighting project in this permanent exhibition was prepared in collaboration with JAC Studios, as exhibition architect.

The background lighting in the room comes from backlit glass jars up by the balcony and creates a general and cool background light throughout the room. The basic light also provides an uplifting spaciousness and plays together with the natural light from window openings.
Inside a central main showcase, the warmth puts the focus on selected objects and ensures that something stands, in a subtle way, is more than anything else. The combination of the cool light from above and the directed light from the side creates the possibility that cool colors and warm colors come to the fore and that the shape and layers of the porcelain can be easily read and experienced.
There is also a cool overhead light in all display cases along the wall. Each display case has its own sky light and its own streaks of sunlight, bringing together the experience of the frame
