SYDØST MUSEUM - HOLMEGAARD VÆRK
Holmegaard Glasswork is Denmark’s pride, when it comes to internationally renown glass design. Starting production in 1825 with simple bottles, then moving to table-glass and later transforming into high quality products during the 1930´s and 40´s, the glasswork was a huge success for decades until it went bankrupt in 2008.
In 2020 it reopened +as “Holmegaard Værk ‘’ with exhibitions including live glass artists and a 40.000 piece Holmegaard glass collection. Dark Matters & For the Love of Light were commissioned to make a full visual experience in the old furnace room centered around the main large tank furnace with 45 tons of liquid glass which slowly settled inside and solidified when the glass production was shut down.

The main furnace runs a pure light cycle of its own life and death, changing color scheme from ice cold blue to burning red giving new life to the huge steam pipes, furnace openings and the solidified glass.
