The Workers Museum in Copenhagen is no ordinary museum but a testimony of what happens when we stand together, which is even more vital in these times. At the time of construction it was illegal to assemble in unions so the assembly building was constructed by the workers on their day off, Sunday.
The building was the first of its kind in Denmark and was inaugurated in 1879. The assembly building is a monument to the emergence of the Danish Labour Movement and development.
Thousands of workers have been trained on the premises for participation in democracy and community life in general, making the building a crown jewel in the history of the establishment of democracy in Denmark.

We have worked towards a holistic lighting layout that as much as possible could be concealed in order to reveal the beautiful decorations and ornamentations of almost every surface in the workers Museum.
Throughout the entire project the focus of the lighting and ambition has been “the building as an artefact, a keeper of time and memories”
